ASPEN.- The Weather Channel's official Twitter account issued an alert on Thursday, for a new winter storm that will go across a big part of the U.S. through the weekend.

“Winter Storm Taylor has been named and will bring snow, ice and gusty wind from the West to the Northeast with a severe weather threat to parts of the South this weekend,” reported the channel's official account.

The National Weather Service also issued an alert in its Twitter. “A significant storm system will bring the potential for heavy snow and hazardous travel from the Plains to the Great Lakes and Midwest over the weekend. On the warm side of the system, severe thunderstorms will be possible from the Mississippi River Valley to the Gulf Coast,” they reported.

There are only a few days left until the begging of the spring, and winter still continues to wreak havoc in the United States. This February was one of the coldest on record.

Weather services warned yesterday that since it was also the wettest winter on record, people should be prepared for moderate to major flooding in some areas of the country. There’s still no information available about flight cancelations due to winter storm Taylor.
